Koala Class

Welcome to Koala Class! We are a mixture of Reception and Year One children with five boys and four girls.

We love learning, being active and working hard on our personalised Key Skills targets. As a class we have worked really hard on learning how to follow our schedules to move around the whole school, visiting lots of exciting places including Soft Play and our favourite activity, swimming! We use transition songs to support our transitions and some of us are singing along and remembering what the song means!

We are also doing a great job of developing our communication skills. Some of us are using PECS and Makaton, some of us are using Aided Language Boards, but most importantly all of us are working on our individual targets to develop our communication.

As we move through the year we are going to be focusing on our mathematical learning including counting, recognising numbers and learning shapes. We will be applying these skills in our group learning and in the  Continuous Provision activities set up in class each day.

Physical Development is another important aspect of our learning as we develop our balancing, travelling and movement skills through gross motor activities. Alongside this we are becoming keen mark makers to develop our fine motor control too!
