Redwood Class

Welcome to Redwood Class! We have 9 pupils in our class, 6 boys and 3 girls on the Secondary site. We have a mix of year groups ranging from Year 7 to Year 9.

We enjoy learning through our senses. We do this through sensory stories, TACPAC, music lessons and movement sessions.  We also really enjoy taking part in our Attention Bucket sessions, which we find very exciting indeed!

Our communication skills are coming on in leaps and bounds! We use PECS, Aided Language Boards, speech and Makaton signs to ask for the things we need during the school day. We follow a visual timetable or use Objects of Reference so that we know what will be happening throughout the day.  We are also working hard on our English and Maths skills through our individual Key Skills targets.

We love being outside and have weekly Forest School lessons where we explore natural materials. We look forward to our daily breaktimes where we take turns using the outdoor leisure equipment.

We have fun during our Hydrotherapy sessions and we are working hard on our Physiotherapy programmes of stretches and movements.

We have a class assembly on a Friday afternoon where we talk about all of the good work we have done over the week. We enjoy a story massage, singing with Makaton signs and we end with a dance to our very special song, ‘It’s Friday then, Saturday, Sunday (What!)’ by Dubskie!
