Meerkat Class
Welcome to Meerkat Class! We have eight Year 3 and 4 pupils who are working towards developing their independence and communication as well as working hard on their personalised Key Skills targets that are woven throughout their learning each day.
We are a curious class who enjoy sensory and food exploration as well as Art, games and stories. These offer the pupils great opportunities to work on their communication skills using Communication Boards, PECS, turn-taking and symbols. For individualised Key Skills, pupils are able to work 1:1 with an staff and are beginning to work and play with their peers during short activities.
Pupils participate in group activities such as Attention Bucket and Circle Time. During our afternoon Circle Time, we like to practice our signing with Singing Hands; the class favourites are Five Little Firemen and Don’t Worry, Be Happy!
Attention Bucket allows pupils to build on their attention skills and they have shown great patience and anticipation during Shaving Foam Splat! Regulation is also important for Meerkat Class, and pupils have access to the outside, to regulation equipment such as a trampet, spinning dish and a quiet space, ensuring pupils are ready to learn throughout the day.
