Monkey Class

Monkey class has eight children, five boys and three girls all in Year 1 and Year 2.  We are a very active, lively class with lots of movement breaks both inside and outside the classroom. Monkey Class enjoy learning, playing and exploring inside and outside whatever the weather!

Communication is woven into all of our activities, supported with Makaton, symbols and photographs. We are working very hard on our independence, turn taking and accepting when things have finished.

Monkey Class enjoy sensory exploration and musical activities; lots of songs are also regularly enjoyed in Monkey Class. Stories are brought to life through exploring with props that can be touched and actions that can be copied, scents to smell and sounds to listen to.

Our afternoons are very busy, playing together, with a range of toys that are set up inside and outside of the classroom.  Children and staff play together with the toys and in our home corner role -play. Throughout the afternoon there is also a paired topic activity to join in with as well as a short 1:1 key skills session.
