PE & Sport Premium

Primary PE and Sport Premium

We want all of our children to be fit, active and lead healthy lives. As such, alongside our formal PE lessons we promote physical activity in a range of different ways, appropriate to pupils’ needs throughout the day.

All pupils at Forest Park have at least two hours of PE lessons each week. This will typically take the form of one PE lesson and one swimming lesson. Where pupils are unable to go swimming, they will typically have an outdoor PE lesson involving more adventurous activity or bike, trike and scooter riding.

In addition, pupils have regular timetabled slots on the trampoline, swings, bikes and scooters.
Physiotherapy programmes including walking and standing form an integral part of physical development for some pupils.
Pupils really enjoy the summer term sports days which encourage healthy competition and team work through a variety of inclusive and accessible sporting events.

PE and Sport Premium funding supports us to:

  • provide additional swimming and water safety lessons (off site) for all pupils in Year 5 and 6
  • provide additional equipment that encourages pupils to be active at playtimes
  • provide offsite, adventurous activity in the community, to further support pupils physical development and confidence i.e. in climbing, balance and jumping safely.
  • provide continuing professional development to staff to help support the equality of access to a range of different sporting activities for all pupils
  • provide continuing professional development to staff to achieve the supervision of swimming safety award to enable all primary pupils (Reception to Year 4) to swim weekly in school
